We offer a truly South African experience!Oudtshoorn and the Little Karoo offers more than just the ostriches and the Cango Caves. Swartberg Experience and Kobus se Gat have been offering tourists a unique experience since 1998.Swartberg Experience offers a complete product of different day tours of the Swartberg Mountain Pass and its surroundings which includes De Rust, Meiringspoort Gorge, the Great Karoo and Prince Albert.
We are situated a mere 12 minute drive from the Cango Caves. Kobus se Gat Restaurant was built using material that was found on the farm. “Mr Rustic” and “Miss Style” meet each other here and traditional South African cuisine is mostly prepared on open fires. Organic seasonable vegetables are mainly sourced from our garden and our meat from the best suppliers in the Karoo.
Our mission is to be unique, give personal service and to be people orientated. Our guests might arrive as tourists, but they will certainly leave as friends!

Kobus se Gat, our traditional veld restaurant near Oudtshoorn is well known for our “Roosterkoek”, but our menu also boasts authentic South African Karoo cuisine.Come and enjoy a delicious South African meal on our stoep while you marvel at our majestic view of the Swartberg mountain range and the valley down below.
* Swartberg Tours
A fully guided tour of the Swartberg Pass with several photo opportunities. We drive over the top of the pass while stopping along the way for photo opportunities and to give you the chance to do a short hike along the route.
* Downhill Mountain Biking
As we make our way back down the pass, you’ve got an option to include adrenaline into your tour and do a downhill Mountain Bike ride back to the restaurant at an additional cost.
