Drakensberg Ballooning based in Winterton offers scenic hot air balloon flights over KwaZulu-Natal with panoramic views stretching from the Amphitheatre in the Northern Drakensberg to Giants Castle in the Southern Drakensberg.
Maybe it has something to do with the curves of the earth, but looking down from a hot air balloon makes one feel very small. Early morning, sunrise, the incredible silence is only occasionally interrupted by the blast of the burner and the occasional shrill cry of a bird.
The excitement is incredible as you float above the earth with the majestic Drakensberg on the horizon.
OUR SERVICES
We offer 2 packages which includes the Scenic Flight and Safari Flight. All our flights are for shared baskets. We need a minimum of 4 people to confirm a flight. We do try and match you up with other groups. We can accommodate 8 people on short notice.
Scenic Flight
The cost is R2750 per adult or R1400 per child (between ages 5 & 12) this includes 45-60min flight, champagne and a delicious farmhouse breakfast. We launch from Glen Gray Farm- Drakensberg Ballooning's original launch site. Hover over the farm lands, dams and plantations with the majestic Drakensberg in the background.
Safari Flight
The cost is R3500 per adult or R2200 per child ( between child ages 5 & 12), this includes 45-60min flight, champagne and farmhouse breakfast or picnic basket. the type of breakfast is determined by weather conditions. We launch from a private game farm about 5 km from original launch site. Wild animals you might spot is Giraffe, Kudu, Zebra, Wildebeest and many others.
