Held at the Hella Hella Outdoor Centre, Hella Hella, on the north bank of the Umkomaas River, just 1 ½ hours from Durban or Pietermaritzburg...
Why not come and White Water River raft in 2-man inflatables called Crocs on the Umkomaas River. You'll cover about 14kms and in between 3 & 4 hours. Perfect for the complete novice or an excellent time at a stag party!
Rafting in an inflatable 2 man canoes, can prove to be more adventurous & fun than ever imagined - not only negotiating the twist and turns, but also mastering the rapids, whilst enjoying the astonishing views along the quieter sections of the river.
A typical Single day would be as follows :
- Meet at Hella Hella (22kms from Richmond) at arounb 9am
- Safety briefing, paddling demo & get kitted up
- Get on the river by 10am in our inflatable self-paddling 2-man Crocs.
- Then travel 6 kms upstream of Hella Hella, and begin with some paddling exercises to ensure you know how to steer & control your craft.
- We will then start the trip downstream back towards Hella Hella where you will encounter no less than 10 class 2 & 3 rapids
- You will also be given the opportunity to do some Zip-lining & rock jumping during the trip (at Hella Hella)
- After our snack break, we will then continue on for another 3 kms encountering the notorious No.1 rapid.
- After No.1 rapid we will end the half-day trip, giving you approx. 3 hours on the river & covering aboutv 11 kms.
- Once completed, you will get driven back to Hella Hella where your cars were left
- Grab a warm shower & some liquid refreshments of the amber colour.... On the full day trip, we will continue for another 7kms covering the well-known No.2 and No.3 rapids - a total of 16kms
What to bring :
- River shoes or takkies
- Baggies / costume & Long sleeve rash vest (if you have) for the sun
- Towel & sun screen
- Sense of humourCost : R450 per person (half day) or R550 per person (full day)

- all equipment hire (like Helmets, paddles, crocs)
